MKV explained?

I see a lot of misguided users here, so I’m going to clarify a few things about the MKV compression format.
It is a new Open Source (TM) codec that was designed by Russian fansubbers dedicated to high quality. The MKV compression format requires a fast CPU to decode because of the advanced algorithms it uses, but it is able to store 30 minutes of 1080p video and 7.1 channel surround sound in a 170MB file.
Taking advantage of this, I have remastered the DVD rips at True HD 1080p and compressed them in the MKV format. Because of common complaints from users whose computers are too slow to play 1080p video when High Compression is enabled in the MKV software, legacy Low Compression is used instead, enabling playback even on a 1.5GHz Pentium 4.
Lastly, many users raise questions about how to play MKV files. The codec can be downloaded from http://matroska.org but it is also included in the K-Lite Codec Pack, available at codecguide.com
Να ευχαριστήσουμε, λοιπόν, από τα βάθη της καρδιάς μας τον κύριο από πάνω που ήταν τόσο καλός ώστε να καθίσει και να μας εξηγήσει σε όλους εμάς τους πλανεμένους χρήστες την αλήθεια πίσω από τον όρο mkv. Ελπίζουμε να βρήκατε το παραπάνω post τόσο διευκρινιστικό όσο εμείς.
